Arrive at Bagdogra Airport. You will be met and assisted at the airport and then drive to reach Kalimpong by early evening.
Day 02|In Kalimpong – excursion to Lepcha Village at Pedong (25 kms 30 min drive)
Post breakfast, leave for day excursion to a lovely Lepcha village. Here you will have the opportunity to meet the colourful and happy Lepcha community and interact with them, know their culture and tradition. Enjoy nice gentle nature, hike around the village and finally have an organic and locally farm produced lunch on your own with a Lepcha family (approx cost Rs 500 per person). This is a part of community development project.
Day 03|Kalimpong – Baiguney – Kaluk 70 Kms/2 ½ hrs
Post leisurely breakfast drive on to Kaluk via Baiguney. Have lunch en route in any of the good restaurant. Reach Kaluk by afternoon and check in at the resort. The tranquil environment with the warm hospitable Lepcha villages gives you a refreshing break from the routine city life. Enjoy the natural beauties around you or just relax at your Resorts landscape garden with a book. Or just stroll around the resort's own forest area for a bird watching tour. Kaluk - Rinchenpong is the forest and buffer zone area of Varshey Rhododendron sanctuary. The area is gifted with abundant natural resources and a natural paradise for the nature lovers, conservationists, botanists, zoologists and environmentalists. Set amidst the lush green valley the Resort offers a magnificent frontal view of Kanchenjunga Snow Peaks at Kaluk. Rest of the day free to relax.
Day 04|Kaluk – local sightseeing & village Exploration
Post breakfast, drive for 5 kms to reach Rinchenpong. Rinchenpong offers some fabulous options for short trek. Visit Rinchenpong monastery and Lepcha Heritage House in Yunsum Farm. Built in 1860 by the then Lepcha chief the house has unique architectural values. Explore the intricate Lepcha architect and continue driving to Biksthang village to explore the unpolluted beauty of rural Sikkim. Visit the local market at Rinchenpong and the age old Dak Bungalow of the British period. Optional – you may also hike up to Reshum Monastery (3 hrs hike 1 ½ hrs each way) - the meeting of three hill tops. A pleasant 3.5kms walk pristine villages and forests will take you to the top as the spectacular view of Mt Kanchenjunga will unfold itself covering the horizons. The place is also known for its spectacular view of Sun rise and Sun set. After a refreshing visit/trek we return to resort to enjoy the warm hospitality. Post lunch and some relaxation, go for pleasant walk around the nearby village or just relax in the beautiful ambience of the resort. In the evening you can enjoy drinks in the Bamboo bar with a bonfire. Overnight at Kaluk
Day 05|Kaluk – Pelling 40 Kms/1 ½ hrs
Leave after a leisurely breakfast on a short drive to reach Pelling around 1000 hrs. Check into rooms at the hotel. Later visit visit The Pemayangtse Monastery (7021 Ft), 2.5 kms from Pelling. Built during the late 17th century, it is one of the oldest & most important monasteries of the Nyingmapa order of Buddhism in Sikkim. Even today, it is only the monks of this monastery who enjoy the title of ‘Tasang’ or pure monks. The monastery follows the Mindroling tradition & has 108 monks. The main attraction of the monastery is the wooden replica of Zangdog Palri, the celestial abode of Guru Padmasambhava, built by Serdup L Dorje Rinpoche in 1971. Post lunch drive about 15- 20 mins to the lonely but vibrant Sangachoeling Gompa ensconced atop a ridge, high above Pelling – instead of the drive you could do a 45 minute hike through wonderfully forested hillside. Later visit the Rabdentse Ruins - the second capital of the erstwhile King of Sikkim till 1814 A.D, by walk. Try to be here for sunset - the scenic view from the top of the ruins scanning across the deep valley, to the mystic heights of the Kanchenjunga range is something that’ll be cherished for long & etched in memory.
Day 06|In Pelling - driving excursion to Dentam & Uttarey 28 km /1 ½ hrs each way
Leave after leisurely breakfast on a driving excursion through the verdant & pristine Dentam Valley till Uttarey – an entry point of the Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Also see the glorious Singshore Bridge – an engineering marvel, this suspension bridge connects two hills across a verdant gorge, the majestic waterfalls at Rimbi, Tsangey falls, the Cheese factory at Dentam and then take a detour to see the Kecheopalri Lake, also called the “Wish Fulfilling Lake. Try to be back to the hotel before evening as the entire area is heavily forested.
Day 07|Pelling – Yuksom - Borong 72 Kms/2 ½ hrs
Check out after breakfast on a nice drive along the Ringit River via Legship- famous for its hot spring and Shiva Mandir; and reach the picture perfect village of Borong. Check into a cottage with stunning views at the Club 8000 Brang Mountain Retreat. This region is a haven for nature and mountain lovers, surrounded by alpine landscape, dense verdant woodland, hot spring, sylvan forests & water falls at the foot of Mainam Hills in the backdrop of snow capped Himalayan peaks like Mt. Narsing, Simvo & Siniolchu. The view from the sit-out of the cottages seep in the mesmerizing effect of sunrise & set on these peaks will be a memorable experience. The nature walks in the surroundings present the most scintillating feel of virgin nature.
Day 08|In Borong
After a leisurely breakfast, visit the exquisite Ralang Gompa, Kheunpheling Carpet Center and a Pepper Factory (if it is open), going towards Ravangla the HQ of Sikkim’s South District. Here enjoy the most unbelievable views of snow capped Himalayan giant peaks. Later stroll around in the village and get back to Borong by evening.
Day 09|Borong – Temi Tea Garden – Namchi - Gangtok 100 kms/3 ½ hrs
Leave after breakfast via Ravangla to the exotic Temi Tea Garden; enjoy this stunning locale. Later drive through typical Sikkimese mountainside dotted with terraced land & orchards. By afternoon reach Gangtok. Check into a room. Evening at leisure you could go for a short drive to the nearby Ban Jhakri Energy Park – verdant, with a nice waterfall & dotted with interesting shamanistic icons to boot.
Day 10|Gangtok – Rumtek – Gangtok local sightseeing
Leave after leisurely breakfast – to see Rumtek Monastery – Sikkim’s largest and 2nd largest in Asia after Lhasa, go for nice walks/hikes in Martham Village and also see Ban Jhakri Energy Park – verdant, with a nice waterfall & dotted with interesting shamanistic icons to boot. Post lunch go for some local sightseeing and see the famous viewpoints that offer panoramic views of the entire valley & the Kanchenjunga ranges, Dodurl Chorten, Orchid House, and the Cottage Industry Institute where you can buy authentic Sikkim hand-crafted souvenirs, carpets, home décor products… Spend a couple of hours in the evening in vibrant downtown Gangtok. Be back at your hotel by late evening.
Day 11|Gangtok - Bagdogra: 130kms in 4hrs Morning transfer to Bagdogra airport in time for your return flight.
